"Sexual Purity in a Media Culture" Tidbits from Dr. Erwin Lutzer's podcast...with my own summations of his notes. Myth--Technology is neutral. Reality- it is biased against a life of holiness and committment It isn't neutral- a predisposition to be used in certain ways. It has an agenda. Myth-- I can watch whatever I like and it doesn't affect me. Reality- violence on video has a direct relationship to violence in real life. Pornography has the same affect- you eventually want to act out on what you see. Thus, the goal of advertisers. Myth-- We can institute some guidelines to curtail the impact of media use. Reality- It doesn't happen and it doesn't work for its purpose. Transformation comes through prayer, fasting, and fleeing temptation.
